VPG has partnered with Providence Community Housing on the final phase of the Lafitte redevelopment, a transformative effort to revitalize the historic site of the former Lafitte Public Housing Projects. Lafitte Phase VII will deliver 51 new affordable rental units, including the rehabilitation of the original on-site structure and the new construction of 45 units across 40 buildings on an undeveloped parcel known as Block 6. The design and layout will reflect the architectural character and neighborhood fabric of the existing community. This milestone marks the culmination of a post Katrina redevelopment effort that has restored more than 1,000 housing units to the area. The project’s capital stack includes 4% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits paired with tax-exempt bonds, Federal and State Historic Tax Credits, and public funding from the City of New Orleans, the Housing Authority of New Orleans, and FEMA. Lafitte Phase VII achieved financial closing in June 2025, with construction projected for completion in Q3 2026.
